Feeding and Mealtime Solutions
Most children go through a phase of picky eating. However, other children have more specific food aversions and sensory based feeding challenges that impact their ability to try new foods or significantly impact their food repertoire. For families dealing with these challenges, meals can be very stressful for children and parents alike. I am a professional resource to provide education and training to support flexible, adaptive mealtime routines and support children and families in having positive mealtime experiences.
Areas of feeding that can be addressed:
Disinterest or resistance to trying new foods
Avoidant of having hands messy or interacting with new foods
Aversion to smells or visual presentation of food
Rigidity with food flavors and textures
Challenges with ability to remain seated for an entire meal
Specific positioning suggestions for proper posture and ability to self-feed
Supports to avoid power struggles during meals
Individualized sensory feeding evaluations and programs can help improve positive outcomes in a child’s willingness to try new foods and help support successful mealtimes for families.
